Hey everybody!   I breadboarded my first circuit on my "ProtoBox".  It sounds pretty good for a first attempt and now I'm working on tweaking it.

One thing I'd like to do is get the distortion to sustain longer.  If I rock a power chord the distortion lasts about a 3-4 seconds then it drops off and only the "clean" signal is left.  Where would I look to try to get the distortion to keep on keepin on?

It's especially evident when I play single notes and only lasts 2-3 seconds.

I think I might've helped this out some by replacing C1 (10uf) with a larger value cap (I think I used 33uf).

Hard to tell if I'm imagining it.  Yay noobness!   :icon_razz:

It seems to have reduced some of the random "crackling" of the distortion I was hearing.  How fun is this?  :D

your still on breadboard right...

try lowering R7 to 100r-1k..

try raising R8 to 1.5M -2M...

I tried the 250, but ended up going with the YJM 308...should have been a reverse log pot, but didn't have one handy.. ;)

i have a vero layout of this yjm308 if you want it...

Holy CRAP man!!!!  That sounds like Jesus!!!   :icon_biggrin:  Nice job!  The etching is beautiful to boot.  Fantastic job.

I'm still playing around.  I'm still really just getting the hang of soldering so I've got a long way to go but anyway.  I've got this thing sounding pretty good from a cap and diode perspective so I'll play with R7 and R8 and see what that does.  Maybe replace one with a variable resistor (as you can see there are plenty to choose from :P).  Or could that end up in a disaster?

Thanks so much for your response!

This is going to have a negative affect my job performance.
