The Echo Rockit project was released a week ago.

A Youtube demo is found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NDlRXwpS1w&list=UUp6OK4J97aPWccFpUgKj_Mg

Tech details and construction notes are found here: http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/index.php?CATPARTNO=&PROJARG=ECHOROCKIT%2FECHOROCKIT.php&MAINTAB=SYNTHDIY&SONGID=NONE&VPW=1231&VPH=500

It's another PT2399-based modulated echo circuit, but with more modulation features than you're used to seeing.  The super-high resonance in the VCF it includes allows for plent of interesting sound effects.

Very nice, lots of possibilities for total sonic chaos. I wonder if he's missed a trick though by having the filter hard wired before the delay, there's some really nice sounds to be had with a modulated filter in the feedback loop of a delay. Admittedly I don't know how well it works with a PT2399 I've only tried it with higher quality delays, looks like it would be fairly easy to mod though to add that feature.

I haven't followed the link yet, but I am a big fan of Ray Wilson.  A friend of mine just built a WSG and is furiously trying to fit it and a chip amp in a $16 acoustic guitar in hopes that it will make the strings drone.

It's interesting how easily a delay can be turned into a source of sound effects.  I picked up one of those little Monotron Delay units from Korg last year (also a PT2399-based device).  It also incorporates an LFO, a filter, and a delay, and can do a wealth of interesting things.  The Echo Rockit essentially provides a few more performance features, and easier patchability.  That's not a criticism, but an illustration of the essential point that, if you have nearly ANY source of interesting sound, a delay that can go out to a few hundred milliseconds can yield some interesting outcomes.

The Monotron Delay is SUPER fun!  I have the Monotribe (which came with a free rebate for the original Monotron), and the Duo and my bassist has the Delay.  Yeah for us, we collected them all!  The Delay is particularly fun as a stand alone unit.

I pulled apart a cheap 25-key keyboard instrument the other day, and ordered myself up a mess of 100R 1% resistors to make a suitable ladder and make use of the physical keyboard as a 1V/oct device.  The entire Monotron can probably fit inside the chassis for this keyboard.  Hmmmmm......

Oh yeah....Hyperflange.  :icon_rolleyes:
