Hallo, I'm always lurking around but rarely contributing....

This is a small, simple and quite humble contribution: it's my go to booster - overdrive - dostortion right now, and i really like it with tube amps; going in a solid state amp probably a tone control would be mandatory, but you can swap the 68 K resistor on the output wit a 100K pot in series with a small resistor (around 20 K?).
I like the fact that it does not use diodes, maybe the note decay won't be super smooth this way... but at least it will sound a little different (actually it's like a low gain rat to me :icon_rolleyes:).

As you will see it's not very original: I took inspiration from the rat, hot cake, buffalo pfuz, rez overdrive (pinkjimi also noticed this simple ad nice overdrive).

Since I finally downloaded and started working with diylayoutcreator (god bless him) I can at least share a readable perf layout (sorry but never tried vero); the layout can be very easily translated in pcb too (sorry but I gave up etching).

Very cool :) Any sound clips ?

Thank you, I think the coolness of the thing is to discover how much you can do with so little.

Actually I have no clips; the problem is that at home I have no chance to play at a decent volume, so recordings are always not very true to the actual effect sound and use: since it lacks a tone control, and since it is basically a overdrive, not having the possibility to listen to it in a real working tube amp makes the clips worthless.

At rehearsals my drummer always carry a digital recorder, so I will try to remember to take some realistic clips .

Anyway it takes only five minutes on a breadboard to listen to it... and speaking of components value, you can experiment on quite everything.

Finally I found a way for web hosting my images  :icon_biggrin:.

Hallo JImi.
Yes, I saw that you posted a very similar circuit  :icon_redface:. Yours use diodes right?

This is very similar to res (or rez?) overdrive a guy posted on the other site, components value are different and the gain pot placement too: I always had bad luck with the gain pot arranged in the hot cake stile, don't know why.

I will work for clips... but NOT video! I am not telegenic as you (nor I have the chops) :icon_wink:

yeah bro, mine cheats and uses diodes, but you can leave 'em out.. just makes it a little harsher.
paul in the lab/insonicbloom's stuff is always fun!!

i built the rez driver too, as per paul's layout, and even sprung for the proper chips.

all i got outta it was what sounded like a fuzzy %^&*ed wah, so i stuffed it in a crybaby shell.

video is good, audio is better

no need to worry about licks or looks brother... you seen my videos, right? ;)

i look forward to listening!! ;)

Hallo, I made a small clip of the effect: http://soundcloud.com/allesz/easy-drive

First is clean, then volume at noon and gain at zero (only boost), then I play a little with the drive setting: from 9 o'clock to max.

The recording sadly was made at home, so the amp was clean and with little volume.
