Hello,
I'm new to the forum. I've recently done some breadboarding tutorials for a distortion pedal and am planning on doing a first actual build. I was thinking, rather than a byoc kit (although I plan on doing one sometime), I would just do fuzz circuit on vero board and stick it in an enclosure. I have it narrowed down to an axis fuzz.

I have these two links, they are separate layouts for axis fuzz pedals.

I'm not sure if its possible for anyone to look at both and form an opinion on how it would sound or which would be better, but if you were to pick one, which would you choose? I'm looking at you knowledgeable folk. One more thing, on the second link the output is not labelled. Where would it go?

I'm also open to other layouts.

First off, welcome to the forum.

Which one to build is really a matter of personal taste. If you're breadboarding, then you're well on your way to figuring out which one would be best suited to your ears. It always a case of "one man's garbage, is another man's gold". This is especially true of fuzz pedals. Having built the Axis Fuzz, I found it a bit too "soft spoken" for my taste. That's just my take, with my set up, and style. Even videos, or sound clips, must be taken with a grain of salt, since the set up used in the clip might sound amazing, yet doesn't blow up your skirt with yours. I know the breadboard has saved me from wasting time on a build, more times than I can count.

In a nutshell, breadboard it, play with it, try different things, tweak here and there. In the end, you might end up with a winner, or you just might flush the whole thing because it doesn't suit your needs, or meet your expectations. Either way, no harm done, and valuable lessons learned.

you'll get more/better answers if you post the schematics so differences can be easily seen

again, check out the schematic...for instance,  on this one, the out of the circuit is the "-" side of the 2.2uF

always think outside the box
