Nice. 

One of the Phase 90's I made for myself includes envelope-controlled speed.  I just tacked an envelope-follower to the input buffer stage, and use it to drive an LED/LDR combo placed in parallel with the Speed pot, which you can also do with the Causality.  Heaps of fun, and frees up your foot to do other things.

You should try it out one day.  Knowing you, I'm confident you'd like it.

i'd LOVE to add a small daughterboard and add an lfo to sweep the range control either independently or by treadle.. it would be like building in a flanger...

would it become a phlange shifter instead at that point?

could just duplicate the lfo part of the circuit and connect it to the range pot, right?  add a switch, and have it sweep up and down in the background may sound really cool... linda like the phaser on the beginning of "wish you were here"..

but the amazing thing to me is i just actually understood what you said for maybe the first time ever.

maybe a phunqgnosis? or is there a better one you'd reccomend?

I did my master's degree back in the days when IBM Selectric typewriters were used to prepare any sort of document you cared about.  Secretaries would type up your thesis for you for beer money.  The running gag in our department was that you simply NEVER used the word "causal" in your thesis, because the secretaries would invariably "correct" it, and type it out as "casual".

jimi, if you look in any (dual) opamp datasheet for the vco circuit, and convert your oscillator, it's easy to add a mixing resistor to the freq setting pot, and then hang yr envelope off that. the hard part is getting the right values, as too big a swing tends to (apparently) stop the oscillator. when I tried it some years ago, the osc speed pot seemed rather limited.
