It's not the wire ... cause i tested it with new wire.

would a bad pt2399 cause the audio of the input to not register any audio when there is supposed to be audio? Boy that sounds redundant!

Like bluebunny said earlier, there's something very wrong with your Tl072 voltages, pins 6 and 7 should both be about 5 volts. I would double check all the components and the connections to those pins.

sounds like your jack is wired to ring instead of tip...can't tell visually from pic .

That was for my first board that he responded to; i've been working on the birthday edition.

I'm also not wired to ring, i'm wired to tip ... this is mind boggling.

I'd audio probe it and check your continuity on the input and off board wiring first.

i've done that ... when i plug in the stereo plug from my iphone ... i get sound. When i plug my guitar in and strum the probe isn't getting any audio from the tip of my plug. It's really strange.

^ try this, take the black input wire and put it on the other jack lug...

or just use a mono input jack...as your not using batteries anyway..

your circuit is obviously working, i put my money on the jack.

Ok have you tried a different cable. Checked that cable.
I know it sounds basic and I'm not trying to be smart. I once spent ages debugging and all along it was a duff cable.
I'd concentrate on testing just with the guitar or a quick and dirty test tone circuit hooked up to your guitar cable.
Forget the iPod testing.
If it was me I'd remove the jacks and rock it before you box it as they say.

Well I was gonna save this as a surprise for LA's 1st birthday in August, but........

I wanted to keep it 1590A-able, but also add good things like the Pin 6 Fix and a seperate vref for the audio path. Here's the lowdown:

  • Pin 6 Fix: D1/C16/Q2/R21/R22
I did add a little Pin 6 Fix subcircuit to a PT2399 that I know won't work without. It still has issues, but I think raising R22 to 100R and C16 to 47uF will sort it
  • Audio vref: R23/R24/C17 - suggested by merlinb as a way to reduce noise dumped into the older version's 5v vref supply by the PT2399
  • C4 changed to 3.3nF - might be a bit darker but will be less hissy

As it's planned to be 1590A-able, hopefully all the electro caps should be able to be bend over 900 to lie flat against the PCB. C16 might be the trickiest.

I PM'ed this layout last week to a couple of people who expressed interest in verifying it, so you never know, it could be verified within a day or so. The layout does need a little tidy up, as I notice the pad sizes are not all the same size.

It's fixed, it was R19 ... it was bad. Put a good one in and voila ... I GOT CHORUS.
