Hey guys, having a little issue with my E.S.V Fuzz germanium PNP, link to specs, make and instructions - http://byocelectronics.com/esvfuzzpnpinstructions.pdf

Volt readings on Wall wart.

Q1
C =3.5mV
B =46.8mV
E =0.mV

Q2
C=6.7mV
B=3.4mV
E=.2mV

So, I bought this kit from BYOC, and followed the instructions exactly how it is in the link, no substitutions or alterations, checked all my orientations, solder joins, bridges etc.

The effect seems to work fine on battery, but nothing with the wall wart just a buzz that changes when I turn the pots but no signal from guitar, I'm guessing its a wiring or supply issue,

here's a link to some pics of my pedal https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ryoutr371rchv3l/ISIZIjknAN

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

let me know if i've missed any information

Cheers

DaZhu

I'm going to guess that you have the power jack for the wall wart wired backwards. With PNP, the collector should be negative relative to the emitter.

So should I just switch the positive and negative wires from the jack at the board?  or get a polarity switcher for my PSU?

the curse of the purple wire! I rekon your output socket is wired arse-about. looks like you have the sleeve wired to the "out" connection. I got 7.5 MEGABYTES of those instructions, and then instead looked at this picture ......

(what the hell is in those instructions?)

BYOC's instructions are EXCEPTIONALLY thorough and designed for first time builders or builders with little or no technical experience. They have pictures of each stage of the board-stuffing process, etc.

Hell's bells, I think ducky's on to something. I have a slow connection and couldn't even get the posted pics to load last night. In the first post Dazhu stated it worked fine using a battery, what's that about? Not to mention the voltages he posted.....

Switching wires didn't help and I think I've fried something too, I have wired my shield to output Think that was the problem,  anyone know what I would need to replace?  Led is not coming on anymore.

MaxPower

Sorry about that. In any case, the LED is probably toast. Try bypassing it, the pedal should work. If it doesn't work, then check the polarized caps and the transistors.
