What (if any) pedals do a worthwhile plexi sound? Looking to get that tried and tested AC/DC sound; just a tight, smooth, sustain with a bit of that bright bite Marshalls have. Mostly I miss having a marshall stack and want an easy/quick way to get that sound from my Fender Champ :) The Runoffgroove Thor looks worthwhile and I may just give that try but I figured there might be something newer or more recommended around these parts. I wouldn't be opposed to doing a clone of something either.

Wampler Plexstortion and Plexi-Drive are popular.

Some videos sound great, others not so much.

The plexi-drive sounds really good...even into a crappy Rage 158!

Dude...not a pedal, but the Hotone Purple Wind. I bought one a few weeks ago for the hell of it, and this thing rips. Especially with a boost in front of it.

I've tried lots of marshall in a box type pedals (Guv'nors, crunch box, box of rock, bluesbreaker, British sound) and I've settled on the blackstar ht dual. It does a good marshall rock tone to my ears. It's also really flexible. It depends on how close is close enough. There's something about the sensitivity on an old marshall that none of the pedals I've ever tried quite capture.

There's a few demos on YouTube but they're not all very good. But the best thing is to try it was your setup anyway.

Hope that helps

some say the landgraff dynamic overdrive & its clone variants simulate a marshall plexi tone when run assymetrically. those listeners must be either tone deaf or sonic dreamers. while certain fxs can get you closer, no pedal can re-create the actual sound of a driven vintage deluxe or plexi. if such was the case, amplifier builders would go out of business. a simulated guitar pedal/stompbox is like a plain jane wearing well-applied make-up. it's still artificial & no substitute for the real deal. just ask any guy who woke-up only to find a completely different-looking woman in his/her bed the following morning. alcohol (like certain pedals) can work limited wonders...albeit to a certain extent.

That's a modeling amp?
