pseudorandom lfo meets parametric eq

I have a parametric single band working nicely.  I actually took some values from the sabrotone version, not linked here, which solved an oscillation problem. But now I am replacing the 1M frequency pot with and LDR and driving the LED with an LFO from a 40106.  It works, I have a 10K coming off the output pin of one 40106 stage, LFOing at around 3Hz. My goal is to get the random LFO changing the frequency of a high Q boost, much like a way pedal jumping around to different settings, as Mr Keen suggests in his random LFO article.  The good news is, no manipulating of the LFO's DC offset seems necessary, and the radio shack LDR I'm using doesn't need any fudging of the resistance so far. (When I mix in a couple LFOs that may change.) This one oscillator is working the sweet spot in the frequency adjustment.  But it's very noisy.  Lots of white-ish noise is introduced to the quiet eq when I connect the LDR inlace of the freq pot, which is heard sweeping around as if it is coming in to the input of the eq, just like my gtr signal.   and the ticking is really bad.  a filter cap on the oscillator output, after the 10K resistor, softens the back edge of the square wave only (I 've tried a few values here, maybe I'll find one that works with the LFO freqs I'm looking for).  I've also quieted things down a little by adding a LPF with a wide assortment of caps to ground, and a 10u series cap to the leg of the LDR that goes to the 51K resistor and the op amp.  The other end of the LDR is at V bias, just like the 1M pot was.
Hoping to get two more LFOs mixed together, all single digit frequencies crashing into each other.
Has anyone succeeded in implementing the geofex random LFO, in a quiet manner?

Bump - anyone tried this? Sage wisdom or wild guesses welcome.

I would guess you're getting no responses because this is a bit mysterious.

Let me be sure I understand. With a resistor for a frequency adjust, the EQ is quiet, but with an LDR it hisses? Is that right?

Two questions:
1. Do the LFO and EQ share a common power supply and ground?
2. Have you used an oscilloscope looking for RF oscillations?

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Thanks - been away from the breadboard.  RG, I think I'm getting the noise under control. It's a narrow Q boost I'm looking for, which I can expect to be a little noisy.  I'm trying to shorten all the wire lengths. I'll get further into the noise troubleshooting, but now I've changed my thinking on the LFO offset - I would like to bring the center of the LFO down but keep the range wide.  You wrote something on this somewhere, in the forum perhaps, about pulling the node where the LFOs meet up to V+ or down to Vref.  Something like that.  Could you walk me thru that?  I've fried an LED driving the photo resistor, trying to introduce this offset in a dumb way.   ( I was driving the LED directly from the sum node of the 40106 LFOs, and it was working fine, just too tipped up into the high range of the eq audio range.  Sounds like that, and on the scope the LFO sits up at 2v or so, with brief dips toward 0v.)
