optocoupler sidechain idea

What if there was a way to make a compressor with sidechain input that received signal and sent it to an optocoupler that controlled the resistance near the Compression pot on a regular compression pedal. I was thinking if you could have an optical resistor like that, it would make it  have compression when a kick drum hit or something. What do you think?

It's not opto side chain but there's always this.
