Maplin here in the UK are currently selling this power bank for £20

Anyone had any reviews on this? Do you think it will any good at filtering out noise?

for £20, can i build a similar thing that will filter noise?

Thanks :-)

i use this.. ( the 10 way one..)   (which is 6 way with additional daisy add on..)

nice psu, no hum/noise....quick delivery too.  8)  ive recommended these before to others and never heard a bad word.. 8)

It looks respectable, and certainly decent for the preponderance of analog pedals.  But the individual outputs are rated at 75ma@, which may be insufficient to power many digital FX.

My guess is that, internally, it is simply a hextet of 7809 3-pin regulators, with accompanying caps.  In other words , the functional equivalent of a decent wallwart.  That will provide regulated power for analog pedals, but my not provide a great deal of immunity to line spikes and such.

That said, looks alright for 2/3 of pedal users.

People recommending Maplin??   :o   I thought I'd seen everything...  ;)  Yeah, I admit, it is warranted occasionally.

Another +1 for the effectspowersupplies links that Rob posted.

I wanted something a bit 'tidier' too, I currently have something similar to what these are (one i have is not very good at filtering noise), but what I don't like about it is the odd placement of the power points. And if i'm using just 3 effects, I have a couple of points just hanging around, which I don't really like.

Saying this, I fully respect your advice, and obviously would want better sound quality over 'looks', so what I think il do is try this Maplin one out, see if it does a decent job, if not, will return it and look into these from effectpowersupplies.com

Also might take a quick peak to see how its build on the inside..

I'm only running (basic?) things like tube screamer, DS1 / Klon, Booster and hopefully a delay / reverb soon and maybe a synth / envelope filter, so hopefully this should be sufficient for this?

Some of the later mentioned effects need up to 100mA (or more) by their own..

Reverbs are likely to want more than 75ma.  The range of what calls itself a synth/filter can vary widely.  Analog versions of each can often be well within the 75ma limit, but digital ones possibly not.
