Cool little jig there.  How did you secure the pins in the acrylic base?

I could've used this a couple of projects ago building 4 microphones!  ((;

just super duper glue. i used a 1mm drill bit and the pins are thick cut-offs from some mains-rated diodes.

That worked pretty well.

Why don't *I* own a drill press?????

As to why **anyone** would not own a drill press, I can only speculate that there was a flaw in their early life-training or experiences.    :icon_lol:

Adult life **begins** when you can acquire power tools.  :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

If you want to make PCBs, you need something very like this:

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Has anyone tried this model?

I have a Dremel drill press but it's not the most accurate tool I've ever used. It get's the job done though.
I just designed a new fuzz circuit! It almost sounds a little different than the last fifty fuzz circuits I designed! ;)

I personally own this one:
http://www.micromark.com/microlux-3-speed-mini-drill-press,7797.html
I got it on sale about 20 years ago for about $110.

I paid the money because I was so very frustrated with dremel stands and even my floor-standing press. It has been worth every penny. Compared to the Dremel adapter, this is mik and honey, sugar and cream. It gets fast enough to use tiny bits and is steady enough to NOT break solid carbide in sizes from about #75 on up. At least mine is.

I picked out the riogrande on from several jeweler's supplies as being a likely candidate. If you want certainty, get the Micro-Mark. It's VERY good. You really won't believe the differences.

Let's not rule out - BOTH.

Reminds me of Fran's system she uses for drilling out PCB's. The relevant parts are around the 12min mark but she has lots of good ideas in this video. Well worth the watch.

See the "YouTube" button (underneath the Bold tag)?
Hit that then paste your link between the two tags.

Use the link from your browser's address bar, not the one they give you in the "share" tab below. Cut off the part at the end of the link that reads "&feature=youtu.be"

And if you are browsing using secure links, change the https to http.

Other than that, there's nothing to it!

Thanks TubeGeek! That is what I was doing wrong using the share url and I kept getting **invalid youtube link**

i use the dremel drill press. i regret buying it but setup it works now. seems so much smarter to just buy a bench drill that can handle the small drill bits (1mm, 0.8mm, or smaller).

problems:

it's such a task to set the dremel up in the press that i never bother taking it out for any other jobs and it permanently lives there now. i later bought another!

the registration creeps goes all over the shop! very clunky and made of plastic.

i was disappointed to find that you only get the ONE chuck (sorta thing) that fits the generic dremel tool size but they don't give you attachments to hold drill bits etc. this was an extra $20.

after all that cost should have just bought a dedicated REAL drill! don't follow the herd...
