When I record the output from this pedal, I get a signal that starts off with DC offset but then it gradually becomes centered around zero. I know that my sound card will take signals with DC offset and gradually center them around zero, but will the pedal also do this? In the pedal schematic, I see caps on the output.  My understanding is that this will cause the output signal to be centered around zero, but I can't verify this as my sound card also centers the signal around zero.  Surely an octavia will not pass a DC signal, right?

Only if you *pull* the output towards ground.

If the output could be totally un-loaded no-leak, the initial 4V turn-on would persist "forever".

In practice, for some caps, for some loadings, the 4V DC may take minutes to leak down.

You usually need a pull-down resistor after the cap, if you are DC-phobic and do not have such a resistor on the input to the next box.
