Don't think I've posted a photo of my modular yet. Interested to see what the rest of you have -- I'm sure that Rick, at least, has a beast of a machine...

the case is DIY, as is this module (sequencer of my own design)

I have a few non-modular synths as well

That looks hugely fun to mess about with! I like the sequencer -- CPU driven?

yup, microcontroller. I wanted to do fancy stuff like convert CV-in to step position, stuff that wouldn't be very easy with ttl

With all the knob twiddling... when do you find the time to actually PLAY the instrument?  :icon_lol:

The knob twiddling IS the instrument, at least fairly often. You use a wave generator to create a tone and then warp it using the various modules. Or it's fed via midi (meaning, programmed and then manually manipulated).

A tip I saw on the MW forums was to complexify the control path, and simplify the audio path.

exactly  :icon_biggrin: I don't even have a keybed hooked up to it. knob twiddling for hours, drones, textures, sound design, etc.

I got a new case sorted out :) so I can put more modules in! Still all DIY (some kits in there... the Synthrotek Echo kit has gone in since that photo, plus a second Braids. The Echo has a very odd voicing to it.)

I still want to see everyone else's synth setup! :)

midi controller with cv out! for less than $150:

http://www.keithmcmillen.com/products/qunexus/

anyone try it yet? i have a few modules and stand-alones that i want to play with a trad keyboard instead of the diy stuff (push button, stylus controller, ribbon, etc.). considering how expensive a real controller is and how complicated it is to DIY for 150 bucks, how could it be that bad?

Hey garcho, try the Rock Band 3 keytar, has a midi output.  Goes for about $20 used on ebay.  The expression controller is really nice too.

EDIT: whoops, no cv out, nevermind!

Here's my humble entry......haven't had the time to do much with this.  Hope to build some cv controlled modules in the future.

The case for this originally housed a grinding wheel for a crankshaft pin machining operation.  For the world's most popular (best selling in total worldwide units) vehicle, lol.....for what that's worth.
