I currently don't have access to my breadboard so can someone please check this to make sure its right? I based it on this vero layout. Thanks.

Why miss out the 47uf smoothing capacitor?
otherwise looks ok ....

Alright if I were to get rid of the pot and just used a switch is this the way to do it?

The 1M pulldown resistor should be on the other side of C1
