hi guys, dug out and dusted off my old korg ax1500g....

now i remember why it collected dust.. :)

the tactile switch 'mechanisms' (basically a dot of plastic under a square) touches the tactile...

but they have become very twitchy, and glitchy when switching , not reliable at all...

so i fancy i'll swap them out for proper stompable ones...and bring it back to life again.

so.......before i rip out the tactiles...a little education is needed..

1:  there are 4 lugs on a tactile right?...are all 4 lugs part of the switch?...or 2 lugs merely for attaching to a pcb?

2: are all tactiles push to make (NO) Or push to break (NC)

cheers. rob.

1. usually 4 lugged ones have one of the leads on either side shorted to one on the opposite
2. both variants exist, get your DMM out ;)

;D yes i will when i open it up..

i thought maybe they would be the same, but if wired a certain way they could be NC or NO...

..

i just watched a vid where the guy used the top right and bottom left as connections...hmmm...

You might be correct in some parts, but if I remember correctly from a certain cd deck repair from at least 5 years ago, They had both kinds and lugs wired the way I described.
EDIT the ones I meant were like these : https://www.e-switch.com/system/asset/product_line/data_sheet/143/TL1100.pdf

erg, replaceing tactiles. you'd be best to look for a parts list, like wot boss do, then see what the spec sheets for the specced switch says. different leg numbers, diferent whanger heights, n/c, n/o, changeover, diff etc etc ....

or, just hack it with the first that comes to glove.
