First - thanks to the forum for being here.
I've read a lot of articles in the last few days and learned a lot from everyone's input and I am very thankful to have this site as a resource.

I thought I would take the plunge and start in on a build of my own. I would start by making a few A/B switches and loopers (easy stuff) but while waiting for the mail I was able to start on a stripboard project by sourcing some (but not all) parts locally.

Here are some pics of my progress so far...

Some good solders, some not haha...

The build I am doing is this one;
http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.ca/2012/03/devi-ever-hyperion.html

To me it sounds great and looked like a relatively simplistic build. So, it seemed like a good choice for a first build.

Nice work, Ghost - welcome to the forum!  You'll have fun with that one ;)

Maybe work your way into trying some stuff on perf, if you get the inclination.  Let us know how this works out for ya, and post final pix!!

Welcome!

Looks good. If you are just learning how to solder, I suggest getting sockets for the transistors so you don't over heat them.

GhostRider

Thanks guys!

I've checked the board with a multimeter and all the connections are good.

I will definitely post progress pics as I value the input.

I just received my order from BLMS so I'll be constructing the A/B boxes once I can co-ordinate use of a drill press.

duck_arse

ghostrider, you need to use BIGGER CAPS!

and sandpaper. all around your vero edges, I can see raggedey coppers that are lurking short circuits. use some P220-P400 wet or dry, wet, to keep the dust and irritants down, and sand till you have a flat and straight edge. and you'll have a smooth and snag free vero.

and welcome. mostly those are nice looking solders, too.

Yeah, those were the smallest ones I could find.  ;)

This is just kinda a quick one, to settle my impatience.
I've got all the parts to do an identical build and with do that one much cleaner.

Update:

Got more parts, finished this board and did another one (pics below). Tested it out and it's as crazy as I expected BZZZZZZ FTTTTT HUMMMMMM crazy fuzz. Woo!
Waiting on my buddy to drill out the enclosures then I'll be all done.

I'm feeling very good about the soldering on this one. Got some thinner solder and some helping hands and that seemed to have made all the difference.

(Smaller caps and sanded board especially for duck_arse)

Saint Louis Toneworks

let me know if you need any large caps 200,000 volts and up !  ;D

Thanks man. Pretty good for a second attempt I think.

It is the Hyperion, based on the layout from this site: http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.ca/2012/03/devi-ever-hyperion.html

wait a minute, what grade sandpaper??? that thing is so small, you might lose it. it's looking like good progress.

I like to use 60 grit and a belt sander to prep my board.  I clamp it horizontally in a vice and just go at it.

No, just kidding!!!  ;)    #0000 steel wool and a wipe w/alcohol to clean any oils off...
