I always see these mini pots on pedals: http://s27.postimg.org/watgaqqyr/pots.png
but I can't find them anywhere...
I could only find something like this (the same but without the white stripe):http://www.ebay.com/itm/ALPS-Electric-10k-OHM-Center-Detent-Linear-Taper-Pot-RK09K-POTENTIOMETER-AH-/110977657041

any idea where I can get them with the white stripe? I know it sounds trivial, but I am planning to use these little knobs on preamps and built-in active effects on my guitars and I really need to see the position of knob on stage...

Are you looking for the actual pot or just the small knob with a dash?

I don't believe that there is a knob on that 9mm pot that you linked.

It looks like a white strip was painted on the black plastic shaft.

See this link as well:

I just designed a new fuzz circuit! It almost sounds a little different than the last fifty fuzz circuits I designed! ;)

also, do you have any idea what is the best way to mount these pots on a pickguard?

With their mounting nut.

If you use the mounting nut....the shaft will no longer have the appearance of a small knob...and it will look as if a knob is missing.

The effects which use this style pot in this fashion, have the pot mounted to the circuit board.
One option is to mount a circuit board with some stand offs to the pickguard. You will have to use screws countersunk into the pickguard to support the board.

Option two would be to mount longer stand offs on the bottom of the guitar cavity...long enough for the pot to reach the proper height.

What exactly are you doing with this pot mounted to the pickgaurd? Is it part of a circuit?

The question has come up several times.

I guess you'll find the best answer in this thread:

For an example of a very impressive use in a DIY build, look here (solderman's hide and seek wah):

If you were careful, you might be able to put that slot on the shaft with a Dremel...so you can add white paint and wipe it off, leaving the white 'line'!
Cool idea, could put a control in tight quarters this way.

I think the OP is looking for no indicator.

Edit: reread the last part of his first post.  :icon_redface:

There is a line on the shaft already. One would have to apply paint then wipe off paint from exterior, leaving the paint in the groove. Or...if you can paint in the lines....  :icon_wink:

If I were you, I think I would just paint the little groove white. It don't see why you need a knob. I think it looks just as good. But all the power to ya if you want a knob  :D
