Personally, I've never had a problem with relay switching noise except for contact bounce, which is a problem with any mechanical switch.

I still have no idea on how to use a relay instead of a footswitch... How do I google it?

You'd still use a footswitch, but it would control the coil of the relay and be a separate circuit. The switch contacts on the relay close and open when you apply voltage to the coil.

Here's a schematic of a simple SPST normally open relay.
