Pedal Parts Vendors please note:

List the shaft size that your knobs are designed to fit.  Few of the suppliers do this. I bought 4 expensive metal knobs not long ago and they turned out to be for 6mm pot shafts and not 0.25".

List the shaft size of the potentiometers that you offer. (see above)

Send chips with MOS inputs in a conductive bag or other appropriate packaging.  The PT2399, FV-1, BL3207, charge pumps and many other chips have mos transistors inside and should not be sent in plain plastic bags!

If you are stocking a hard-to-find part, then please post a datasheet for the part.

Just a friendly request, and this is not aimed at any vendor in particular because I've noted these issues with more than one supplier recently.

Thanks for your attention, Jack

Second.

Nothing worse than a lack of information when shopping for parts.

What if they get burned by being supplied counterfeit antistatic bags?   :icon_lol:

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Jack--

Noted. I can't promise to address all of this immediately, because the store has grown so much. But the suggestions are good and I will do my best to make time to implement.

Thanks, Steve. You are quick to respond as usual, and I appreciate it. As I said, not directed at any vendor, just a collection of items that I had noted recently.

For the big guys:  Mouser sometimes sends me small orders in big boxes, which is a waste of packaging materials and other resources. Recycle, reduce, repurpose.  ;D

Best regards, Jack

Ask your workers to bring lunch in aluminum foil, collect it for chip-wrapping. 1 square inch stabbed over the chip-legs is ample.

Of course if they are handling loose chips in dry weather with silk undies, the chips may be pre-blown before they get to the bag/foil. Another reason to avoid anonymous vendors. (I'm sure DigiKey, Mouser, and Small Bear observe safe chips practices.)
