Did you guys put the photocells flat or did you angle them ?

I'd lay flat only if you're using a reflective shield.

I have already read this doc, and so many others. But thanks for the reply. I guess I'll found out by myself.

I found that laying them flat against the pcb gave a smoother warble. When they were pointed straight at the bulb it sounded too choppy. I did use a reflective shield though.

Cool, thx. May I ask what kind of shield did you use ?

I used the lid from a spray can of air freshener:


It's brushed metal, so it's shiny, and it's exactly the right diameter. It was a bit too tall, though, so I cut it down with a dremel. It's held in place with some solid core wire soldered to the pcb.
