epoxy etc used to cover up pcb's in pedals

Hi i was wondering if anyone can provide more info regarding what i assume is an epoxy , which some buuilders use to hide there parts!.
no i don't want to do it to my pedals,
I have another electronics project  to implement such covering in , it can be clear /black,
what exactly do people use?
