Neat!  Of course one has to be able to supply the Gate.  Although it should be possibleto do so with a momentarySPST stompswitch  supplying an appropriate positive-going voltage to the VG1 point.  That would actually be kind of a neat effect to add on to a phaser, chorus, filter, flanger, or tremolo: it sits "still" and when you steo on the switch, it gradually begins to modulate up to some maximum amplitude, where it stays, for as long as you hold down the switch, ending when you lift your foot.
