yes, it is correctly oriented

duck_arse

well, if the board junk is alll good, can we see the wiring of the pots and off baord parts? it seems that's all that's left.

My only other suggestion is replace or remove and replace the opamps. I've experienced lock up and discovered a few others that have as well.

You could try cleaning up the solder joint on the top end of R19, it looks like it might be causing a short circuit to the track next to it or the edge of the board.

I just built this pedal last weekend and was surprised at how small the sweetspot on the trimmer is.  Be sure to sweep through it very, very slowly.

Thank your for your answers/suggestions. I am out of town for the week but as soon I am back I will try them out and let you know how did it go.

Hello everyone,

Sorry for the belated update. I finally managed to make the phaser work after changing the opamps.

Thanks for all the help.

Good for you! ;)
So, did you replace both the opamps? What was wrong with them?

I'm building a Phase 45 on veroboard in these days, I am still soldering, and I have no matched transistor, I need some luck.

To be honest I am not certain what was wrong with the opamps, I replaced both to be on the safe side.
Also, as Bishop Vogue said, the sweetspot of the trimmer is rather narrow so that is something else to consider.
best of lucks with the building.

i use j201's, in phasers and 99% of the time they are fine...(socket them) 8)

Thanks for the info, actually I already heard it.
A few days ago I tried to replace the J201 in my Fezter Valve with a MPF102, but was too much noisy, I don't know why. ???

I have just two J201, but I have to buid also a BSIAB.
Why Tayda has no more J201? :(

I have some 2N5457, but I need even these in the BSIAB. And I have 7 2N5458.

use try the 5458 for the phaser. you might need to up the zener voltage, but you can just jack-it up with a led at worst.

Thanks duck_arse. I have just the project zener, if I need I'll see what I should to do.
I hope using 5458 I will damage something. Or it is just a "sound" detail?

you will damage nothing but your reputation. the 5458 might have a higher gate voltage than the 5457. but then again, they are fets, they do whatever they like, and they might be the same or lower gate volts.

either way, you won't damage them.

Have I still a reputation? ::)

Just for ending my affair.
I had been clever. :) I had ordered, lont time ago, for this pedal two zener: 4.7v (as stock project) and 5.1v. But I think any of them could be good. I wish my only two J201s will work.
