Hey guys.. :) Drew up a circuit of probably a distortion(was aiming for metal territory\m/  :icon_twisted: ).. Mashed up parts of various circuits.. Total noob  :P . No idea  :icon_confused: . Just drew it up. Mosfet stage is from the rog peppermill. Next is a amz mini booster with some value changes from golden dragon od found here http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php/v/DRAGONFLY-LAYOUTS_0/album87/GOLDEN_DRAGON_OVERDRIVE.gif.html
. Next a classic big muff tone stack with gain recovery section. I had no idea what i was doing  :icon_rolleyes:;p . Comment your valuable insights. http://s1043.photobucket.com/user/Mahesh__92/media/Diy_Dist1_zpshi32jogh.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0

Build it.  List what you don't like about the result.  Then it will be more likely that people will have valuable insight.

Thank you.. Actually trying to breadboard it. Made the first section.

A cool change might be to incorporate Jack's modification to the BMP tone control: http://www.muzique.com/lab/tone3.htm

I've tweaked the values and used it in some OD builds and in an onboard bass preamp I made for my bass.

Ubersam, for some reason there are email tags on your link to AMZ.

Kirk Hammet invented the Burst Box.

The tone stack ain't the final.. Iam trying to add mid boost/flat/mid cut type switch too.. Any one wanna try it on a breadboard?  Is there any easy software for trying a mock breadboard layout??

I like Circuitlab, not free (but relatively inexpensive), and it has a nice interface. Spice is the standard program though, I believe.

Good catch, thank you. Guess I wasn't paying attention and clicked the email button instead of the link button.

I downloaded pebble from picaxe site. It has various sized breadboard but only limited components. I have only a 63 row breadboard. Trying to make it in that. Hopeful..

I thought the purpose of using a breadboard was to avoid spending time thinking about the layout so you can focus on just getting the stuff connected together  :icon_confused:

If you do a great BB layout, you're just going to cannibalize it as you experiment so why spend the time?

Speaking as a guy who hasn't done a ton of bb'ing yet, but is getting into it, I've had his thought as well -- seeing how someone else bb'd it can help you conceptualize how to do it yourself.  It would deprive you of some of the learning that comes from the trial-and-error, but not entirely.  Some other purposes of breadboarding are sparing you the effort of soldering components to a board that you ultimately might not like, sparing components potential damage from repeated heating and reheating while you experiment, it has zero material waste, etc.  So it's not just to bypass that layout process.  And if you get the circuit on the board quickly (e.g. by way of someone else's bb layout or guide), you can get to the experimenting part more quickly.  And a good bb layout could help you conceive of a good vero layout later.

Thanks guys for the kind and encouraging words. ;D ;D :D . ill try and put up a layout. and you guys can verify it. sounds good??
