Modified Tube Screamer

Whats up guys? I'm working on a modified tube screamer clone and was hoping for some opinions on my schematic.

It's still a work in progress, so any pointers would be appreciated.

I am trying to work in a clean blend, and I think I have figured out a way to do that, but I realize it's not ideal. I still need to figure out a way to allow the volume knob to control the output of the clean blend pot as well. I was thinking of just placing the blend pot right before the volume pot in the circuit, so that the input buffer output is blended with the signal right after the 1K resistor before the volume pot. However, I do not know how this will work in practice. I have the circuit breadboarded (excluding the modified tone control and clean blend), so I will be experimenting with this as well as different pot values for the blend pot tomorrow.

Also as far as the drive section goes, I like the sound of 3 diodes in series parallel with a single diode, but I want to try other options as well. I'll be checking out LEDs, germanium diodes etc. Any recommendations here?

Thanks!

For the clean blend have a look at the Maxon OD820. It is a tubescreamer with a clean blend.
You've got to love obsolete technology.....

Thanks! I hadn't thought of using a double pot in the drive control in order to blend in different ratios of clean tone. This could be a good way to go about it

Voodoo Lab 'Sparkle Drive' is exactly that.  Tube screamer with clean blend.  Maybe look for a schematic for that pedal to see how they went about it.

You are switching your caps wrong.  Do a search you should be able to find the proper way.

Also look at the link Mark H. posted and the date http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=73279.0

Ok, thanks. Is this the proper way to go about it?

Sorry to bump this thread, I know it's old, but I'm having a different problem with the same build and figured it'd be better than making a new thread. I've looked at what I could find, and constructed a primitive clean blend circuit using a dual gang blend pot from stewmac. I've wired it using the first example on this page:
http://www.stewmac.com/How-To/Online_Resources/Learn_About_Guitar_Pickups_and_Electronics_and_Wiring/Blend_Pot_Wiring.html

I've also changed how I'm switching the caps, as suggested.

Everything seems to work fine, except when the blend knob is rotated to 50% (there's a notch there, it kind of clicks into place at halfway) it buzzes loudly and none of the guitar signal can be heard. Same for anywhere passed halfway (towards the input B side, the wet signal).

Here's the schematic

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks
