Pedal not working, battery hot

Hi all, sorry but just thought I'd ask a quick question before going through all the troubleshooting.
I wired it all up to a battery and input and output to test, and no sound at all, and the battery gets a little bit hot.
Does anyone know what this indicates? A short, or something specific like that? A component in the wrong way around.
Thanks again.

A short. Could be polarity protection diode in wrong way, could be anything, maybe a solder bridge. Could be resistor is wrong value (100ohm in place of 100k or something...)
More info would help, circuit, layout etc.

Fixed a possible soldering bridge on the earth lead. Battery doesn't seem to heat now . Some intermittent sound from pedal but need to test properly tomorrow.. in bed here now!!!!

A hot battery means it is being asked to deliver a LOT of current in a short period.  That, in turn, means there is a VERY low resistance path between + and - on the battery.  And that can usually mean a short somewhere, or something connected the wrong way.

we had an IC in backwards last week, caused the similar problem. you will need to check your battery voltage now, it may well be ded.

Got it working. That solder bridge seems to have been the problem..Thanks guys . Did a lot of reading about debugging so that's good for the next time
