Hi,

I found Aron's schematic and wiring/parts diagram for the Lava Rim 2 on Guitar Gadgets.com. I saw an old schematic for the Insanity Box. Is there any link to a similar wiring/parts diagram for this? Don't know whether to buy a Sm. Med. Lg. enclosure, 2, 3, 4, 3, (with toggle) hole box, etc. Also, any suggestions on a Multimeter?
I know this isn't DIY, but I searching for a company that constructs circuit boards from schematics either emailed or scanned to them, and then mails the completed board back to you. I'm feel confident in my ability to connect the foot switch, pots, LED, 9V, etc., and develop good looking art work. The circuit board construction is intimidating...now. I'll be back with more questions...

Thank you

I don't think you will find that. What you Will find is that a number of companies offer ready-to-solder PCBs for popular effects. Check out Tonepad, GeneralGuitargadgets, Madbean and others. At some point, you may want to learn some of the art and craft of turning a schem into artwork and CAD files that a PCB fab (like OSH Park) will turn into a board.

If you find a design that you want to build and need advice on which enclosure, ask here or drop a message to the smallbearelec@ix.netcom.com address.

Happy Construction!

Actually, I do know several companies that will take your schematic, and will either do or not do a sanity check on the design, then lay out the circuit board, get one fabbed, then mail it back to you. Shoot, I'll even do that.

The bad news is that you probably can't afford it. The custom circuits and engineering places I know are quite expensive, and the engineering/design side is dramatically more expensive than the circuit board itself, which will cost you between $50 and $100 once the design work is done, even if the design work was free. If you're buying professional technical help on the open market, count on spending many hundreds to several thousand dollars per design. It's vastly cheaper to just buy one of whatever it is you're wanting made.

There are non-professionals that like to do such work, but the level of skill varies dramatically. Even at that, most people who can be convinced to do this don't do it cheaply after the first couple of times. The free layouts you find on various net web sites are done for personal gratification, a sense of personal donation, or other reasons, not work for hire.

It's not like it can't be done. As my friend in the contracts negotiation section back at Three Initial Corporation used to tell me, there is always a number. But you may not like the number.   :icon_lol:

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Can't say I know of a company, but I know of individuals who do it. Shoot me a PM
