battery wire relief! i came up with this handy method for doing so recently:



i got a bunch of those pad things on eBay. the adhesive backing makes it more than sturdy enough (it's a guitar effect, not a lasso). there're probably more standard ways of doing it, but i liked the idea of routing wires through the pads elsewhere, too.

Batteries are a built-in failure point. They **will** fail, with normal use. Even just sitting on the shelf, batteries will self-discharge.

They are a good illustration of the maxim that if you can't make it last forever, make it easy to fix. Battery connectors are the "make it easy to fix".

Or build a universal-input power entry system. (Possible; not trivial for "ANY wild wart".)

Or self-defense power. If it looks wrong, your pedal reaches out with a pair of snips and cuts the cord.

Non-conductive snips, or you might trip a circuit breaker.
