Hi folks

does anyone have any experience with these?
Are they any good?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Digital-Amplifier-Board-Module-35W-Mono-Power-amp-Low-Power-TDA8932-12v-24v-car-/331591959628?

For the price, I just grabbed a couple of them. We'll see how they perform...

I know this won't help but i "love" how people call class D amps "digital" amps. It's like calling a BBD chip a digital chip...
...and have a marvelous day.

I would raise my middle finger to such people.  That's a "digital sign", btw...   ;)

That means four. I just never get why people say "4" to each other.*

But not to run really away from the topic as i could tell it is a class D amplifier chip with factory example circuit. It can't be that bad.

Glad you posted a link to that, I'ma get me a couple of those! I can think of a lot of cool things to do with'em! :icon_twisted:

To people who say bahhh to these little chip amps... I guess ignorance is bliss :icon_wink:
This little HoTone Heart Attack nano head has a TDA2003 for the power amp. I purchased one of these new for $100 and I have to say I am impressed as hell with it!! Check out all the youtube videos, you'll be hard pressed to find any that sound bad..

At the same time I am also kinda put off on making pedals, preamps etc... why you may ask? Because, it's really hard to top this especially for only $100... if only for myself that's fine cause I love messin with this stuff and selling a few here and there but, I'm glad that I don't rely on making these things for my main source of income!
Doesn't matter what you did to get it... If it sounds good, then it is good!

GiovannyS10

Seems the TDA2003 have a good sound for the price. The Hotone make good things to too little pedals. Haha
That's all, Folks!

Not all chips the same.

The TDA2003 is an *analog* car-sound chip, and developed to be not-too-nasty when over-driven.

TDA8932 (any chip which needs ferrite cores) is a *digital* (really PWM) amplifier and overloads very differently. It also has much better efficiency, especially at less-than-max output (better battery life!) and is tending to be cheaper because heat is almost a non-issue.

potul

Yep

they are much more efficient. Almost no heat is dissipated..
I tried it today and it worked pretty well if you stay in the clean area.
I need to test it with a bigger speaker,.. as the one I used is rated for only 3w, so I suspect some of the distortion was coming from the speaker itsef...
But it looks promising

Usually TDAs require some heatsinking of sort, those new chips Are less keen to overheat, As far as I read...So I'm eager to receive it and to try it!!! 30W!!! Want to try something like the stompamp (italian product, 349 euros)

Yes and yes.

Great!

I'm planning to build a new 20-30 W amp, I will give it a try, and probably add some preamp to it, ROG style.

I've bought 10.

Honest amp, flat colorless sound, linear response, runs at low temperature and does what it promises...

But I keep returning to much simpler designs;)

Cheers.

@tca

are you using any kind of heatsink with it?

I tried the one I have wihtout any heatsink, and it was running really cold. But I didn't push it much, I must admit

tca

No heatsink... but I use it for regular audio (5W tops), not guitar.
