Bit of a long shot....
Hopefully people are familiar with the growl that can be achieved on the saxophone, basically it produced by growling as you blow I'll try and find some examples and post, now I can do it but it's not the easiest and to try and maintain or do on demand is not very consistent.

Can any of the geniuses here work out if there is a way of doing a "GROWLER" pedal if it helps I can get the frequencies that the clean note produces as it's generally down the bottom end of the scale which is lower than an electric guitar
Growl in a box would be awesome tho !!!!!  :icon_wink:

This is a video to teach how to do it,

Both clean and growl

All I can think is it may be achived with some type of distortion maybe?

Just work on your air support and practise long notes with and without the growl. You'll soon be able to keep it up without a pedal.

Not saying the idea isn't interesting, but it shouldn't be a substitute to learning the technique, especially since you've got the basics already!

PRR

Growling before the reed influences the reed, which is a complicated thing.

I'm not seeing how any processing *after* the reed could do the same/similar thing.

I always thought that one needed to square up their lips for that. ;D

Totally agree pedals shouldn't replace technique, its just another pedal option :) and may allow for manipulation of technique beyond what is normal.

Some distortions CAN have a growl aspect to them.  I find some uses of the Fuzz Face can achieve growl during the note decay.  I don't know how much of that is a variant of ripple.  I do have to agree with kipper, though. A number of different sources of growl find their roots in envelope ripple.
