Howdy all,

First time posting here and hopefully not repeating the same questions asked previously on the topic of all things RAT.

My only experience with the RAT is my Deucetone which covers a range of RAT types in one unit.

I have been using the Clean RAT setting with my P Bass for the past six months and am loving it, however curiosity has got me wondering about playing with the circuits ability to handle low end whilst maintaining the Clean Rat sound.

My first question is around what defines the Clean RAT circuit. On opening the Deucetone, I can see the difference must come from the diodes fitted to the selector switch. Clean RAT simply having hookup wire between the two poles, Vintage RAT having a single diode or resistor and the Turbo RAT having 2 LEDs.

Am i correct in the assumption that this is what makes the Clean RAT clean in comparison to the Original, Turbo, Vintage and Dirty rats. If so, I could attempt to build a RAT circuit without those final diodes and start the Frequency response mods for bass from there.

If i am incorrect and anyone has experience with this pedal, I would appreciate some help :)

As you have noted, the clean RAT setting of the DeuceTone disconnects D2 and D3.

As for boosting bass response, here's something to try (click for a bigger image):

Those are switching options, but you could easily just solder one in permanently. For R7 and C6 use 270ohm and 10uF or 180ohm and 15uF or possibly 120ohm and 22uF.

Thank you GGBB,

I appreciate the help. That looks like what I'm after. Haven't ordered any parts at all yet so this will help me get started.
