been looking around but cant seem to find any.  is there a 'technical' name for the 'w' taper?  might help in my search.  thanks!

Also called S taper by some manufacturers.

What exactly do you need it for? 1Meg is an unusual value for a W-taper. You could always substitute a linear taper, generally W-taper only gives mild improvements in granular control for some esoteric circuits.

Check E-Bay regularly- sometimes 1 Meg W-taper pots show up. A vendor near Toronto Canada had them recently.

ahh yes.....i was thinking might work.  i know that tonepad uses a 20k linear for their TS808 layout.  i was thinking of building a dirt box called "alpha dog".

looked on flea-bay today...no luck.   thanks for the input!!!!

The vendor is techno* (or maybe technostar). I checked just now, but I don't think he has any left.

On the other hand, here you go....

Pricey... but what you're looking for. Only down side is the 1/8" shaft. You'll need to find a knob that will fit too.

Or maybe use a 2.2 meg pot, and resistors to create the 1 meg S curve?

I'm not sure how well that would work though.  :icon_rolleyes:

Nice idea, but that actually creates a reverse S-taper. Useful in its own right, but makes for an even less granular control on circuits that benefit from W/S-taper.
