Hey there! I just built several tycobrahe octavia pedals and roger Mayer octave up fuzzes (all negative ground) as well on vero board. They all came out to sound very nice. But there is one big problem i´m not able to solve by myself. no matter which schematic i try, they all start to make weird scratching noises after a few minutes and die. ALL OF THEM!! >:( Sounds like if there is a problem with the dimensions of one or more of the components. Swapping transistors doesn't help. caps are all more than 16v, soldering is correct, outboard wiring is correct. It´s absolutely sickening. no matter how many more i build and double check everything, they die.
Please Help!!

Welcome to the forum :) The Octavia is a super cool effect, but is a little frustrating to build. First question that pops into my mind: what transformer are you using and where did you get it? We can go from there and see what we can figure out! ;D

thanks for the answer! i´m using TU011 on my latest build, but tried TM022 also. Same problem. As well with the roger Mayer circuit without any transformer. Sounds nice, but starts to crackle and dies after a few hours.

Hmm, that is interesting. Can you post pictures of the builds? Sometimes it's a lot easier to spot a problem that way, plus many eyes make any mistake easily visible :)

My next question would be what you are using to power the circuits. If the circuit is drawing more current than your power supply wants to give it then that may cause the circuit to work for a little while then give up. But for now I would say let's see the pictures and go from there :)

I tried both. battery and power supply. same problem here. I´ll post some pictures later.

can you link us to the circuit diagrams you are building to? and the pics, and the welcome. then to the debugging thread.

This is the actual build.
I disconnected most of the outboard wiring to take better fotos.
Don´t mind the ripped of copper at the output. I´ll build a new one anyway.

well, from the look of the connections to the two diodes after the transformer, they aren't going anywhere. attend to those connections, and if it doesn't start blasting out the octaves, we want the voltages on the transistors.
