Hi everyone...
Im used to be planing to build some compressor with 13700, but since it sounds crap for me(and active EQ doesnt make it better), im just doesnt take to build it.
im just want to build somethink with this ic.
Do you guys have some recomendation for me?
anyone overhere have the schematic for Carl Marteen Compressor?
Multiple gain stage followed by some active EQ is delicious.

They are many nice phase shifters that use the 13700.   Auto-wahs also. Pretty much any circuit that uses the 3080 can be built with a 13700.

The forum has a search function:

You will find many hits if searching for "LM13700". Many are worth a read.

Project details (schematics, layouts, etc) are slowly being added here: http://samdump.wordpress.com

ROG Tri-Vibe or Maestro FSH are two that come to mind. MP Snow white auto wah's another.

Another vote for Auto-wah. Years ago I built the Penfold/Maplin Autowah:

http://files.effectsdatabase.com/docs/diy/penfold_autowaa_article.pdf

It's a 12dB/oct state-variable filter, so you get both bandpass and lowpass responses. With an extra op-amp you could have highpass too (although that's probably of dubious utility).
The basic filter could be used for other things - add a clocked sequencer for ZVex Seek-wah styles effects, or an LFO or whatever.

HTH,
Tom

Penfold stuff is pretty cool.   I have a few of his books and they're full of good ideas.

1. Engineer's thumb compressor ; the best compressor I've ever heard,
2. Downward noise gate/expander ; one of my favorite pedals...
Life is too short for being regretful about it.

Penfold did a ring modulator, the "light metal" as well, uses an LM13700. but if you want cool, search for the moog "etherwave" theremin.

EH Flanger Hoax uses 2 if I remember rightly 8)

Another vote here for the Engineer's Thumb compressor: it's brilliant (and very quiet).  Also check out Rick (frequencycentral) Holt's "Causality" phasers.

Ohm's Law - much like Coles Law, but with less cabbage...

Oooh yeah! If you're going to get synthy about it, you could build a stereo VCA, or a voltage-controlled crossfader/panner or any number of things. The number of synth circuits with the LM13700 is truly enormous.

What's wrong with 13700-based compressors?

This is a .sig.

They tend to be noisy unless you are very careful.

For me it sound have no power thanks to the 'subtle' that coming from the effect. The sounds have poor headroom that decrease its power. Since imma a metal player, i just need a well compressed rich clean sound for my clean chanel :D

Have you ever build that 2 stuff my friend?
How does they sounds? Subtle?

Engineer's Thumb.  Just sayin'...   ;)    (Neat bit of work on Merlin's part.)

I've built #1.  It compresses and is very flexible.  It's not noisy.

I've built both, the Engineer's Thumb sounds amazing; no noise like CA3080 and definitely the best OTA based compressor IMO...
The LM13700 Noise gate/expander sounds good in comparison with MXR noise gate, here is the thread: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=105397.0

there's a slow attack design too, i think it's on Mark Hammer's ampage still
