Thank you DIYstompboxes for existing, thank you Aron for you work here! Thank all of you for making this place thrive and educating lazy numbnuts like me. I have so much gratitude and awe for this place that words alone cannot describe my appreciation. Thank you for your kindness, because in the sea of internet forums many members out there are harsh, mean and nasty on every opportunity they are given but none of that is (barley) reflected here. Why, I don't know? Maybe this place is an unofficial member of the (yet to be discovered) Internet-Eden? Who knows? All I know is that this place oozes of pure unexplainable magical fumes.

I don't want to make a long list of those who helped me through the years so I would simply like to say thank you all for making this place what it is. Let's hope we can keep it up for many many years ahead, together.

Otherwise known as rosin-core flux.

But yes, this is a great place and a lot more civilized than most.

I could not gush agree more.

Oh that... it's been a member for a long time. Probably happened shortly after The Creation. One of those "eighth day" deals. Aron, and few select others, are probably the only ones old enough to remember that memo.

Uh... dude... how long did you set the microwave for that pizza pocket?

Seriously, this place is amazing. I literally spend more time here than any other website (or homework :icon_rolleyes:). A lot of people ask me if my study of electrical engineering has helped me in my stompbox building, but frankly I think my stompbox building, and particularly the explanations of all the brilliant people on here, have helped my studies more than the other way around.

My added HUGE thanks to Aron for all his hard work and everyone else that keeps this place going. Please continue to exist forever ;D

Yes, thanks to the civilized members! It makes a big difference!

I could not agree more.

I will never forget that 1 year ago, when I did not know where to find j201s, a very kind member of this forum offered to drop them in my mail box.

I asked for 2, I found 7!!!
And "dog balls on your face"...

Can't agree more. When Tim Berners Lee first dreamt up the internet, he imagined the entire thing to be like what we have here.
He was wrong of course due to the nature of people but at least this site proves that it is possible. There is imho no better feeling than helping others and here, I'm in the company of like minded individuals. We all know how much knowledge is passed on here. That it is done in an atmosphere that is so positive and polite is a reflection not only of Aron but everyone here. Time methinks for a collective pat on the back... and another beer :)

I am new here.
And I can say that it is the most hospitable forum I have ever been to.
There is always good and full of knowledge ready to share.

Thanks

Although it caters to an entirely different crowd...well, with the possible exception of Stephen Giles  :icon_mrgreen: ...I will also recommend the electro-music forum ( http://electro-music.com/forum/ ) that serves the synth crowd.  You'll find a similar sort of appreciation of diligence and dedication, and precious little oneupmanship.  Not being a regular there, I can't speak to how many  old-timers are there, relative to here, but I'm confident they have their share.

As always, when someone starts a thread like this, you just have to tip your hat to Aron Nelson, who has been operating this place now for longer than most people's marriages, jobs, or cars last, and I suspect longer than the tenure of most major guitar magazine editors.  At some point, they're going to HAVE to give him an award at NAMM or something equally prestigious (RRHOF?).  It's his dedication to the craft  that keeps it all going.

This place IS great!  For those of us old enough to remember what it was like in the pre internet days. Having all this information and communication in one spot is just amazing..

Last night I was thinking how hard it was back then just to find a decent footswitch...now I can go to Smallbear and I can get all those once rare parts from one shop.

(end of old guy rant)

Was just saying to the wife the other night, how civilized this place is!  I've learned a bunch and most folks here go out of their way to help.  Amazing stuff!  Kudos to all!

Just like you said, this place even outruns the lifespans of some marriages out there! It takes a lot of hard work, persistence and time to accomplish a place like DIYstompboxes. This man has my endless gratitude and if he ever would need anything the door to my house is always open.

sausages for aron (and pies for kipper). other forums? what might they do there?

digi, if aron says yes to your last suggestion, you're in big trouble. but a contest, yes, might clean out some of my incompleted builds.
