wierd toggle switching question . . .

okay, I was really liking R.G.'s idea for mounting pedals in studs, and will probably make a smaller sized one for my gig pedal board (minus my two boss pedals, I guess) but I was thinking about what it would be really useful for me . . .

like a lot of us, I've built a heck of a lot of distortion boxes, many of which i don't really use so they aren't even in enclosures anymore - I only have a couple that I actually gig with, the rest I dig out for goofing around at home and what not - I was thinking what I ought to do was throw all the extra distortions I've made into one of those things R.G. proposed, and here's my stupid question:

See, I can't imagine many instances where I'd use more than one distortion at a time (although if I remove that ability, I'm sure all of a sudden I'll want to . . . ) but say you had, like, a bunch of distortion boxes, like, 4 or 6 or whatever, and you wanted to select between them - obviously I could use some crazy rotary switch, and I think I've got plans here somewhere for some sort of digital switching where I could press one switch to constantly toggle between all the distortions, but what I think would be the most intuitive would be a switch for each box - but rather than each switch turning on and off each box, it would turn that box on and turn off all other boxes - so I don't have to hit two stomps to switch between distortions, and i don't have to hit one stomp multiple times to toggle through several distortions.

Again, this whole box would just be for at home, so it's not important, but the idea intrigues me.  I haven't really tried to analyze the problem for a solution or searched yet, so if the answer is sitting out there on GEOFEX or really obvious if you think about it, forgive me. . . still early in my day.

thanks!

You could probably do this with an old organ pedal board, and a bunch of logic driving 2p2t relays! Would look very cool :)
Also there were those old car radio station select button interlocks, as you press one button in, the one currently in pops out (mechanical interlock).
Would need to mod for foot operation though.
