Hi guys,

I bought a used MIJ V1 DD-3 to try and fix for $20. I believe I have tracked the problem to the AC jack components. I am having difficulty finding some parts.

One is a Murata D223S/50V EMI filter. Like these: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Free-shipping-Cheap-imports-D223S-50V-EMI-suppression-filter-capacitor-tripod-original/1920050_32607106308.html

The other one is a 104 25V KCK, guessing Murata as well.

I cannot seem to find a place to order these.

Does anyone know where I could find them, or know if there is an equivalent part I could use in its place?

Welcome to the forum :) I'm assuming you aren't stubbornly insistent on using the EXACT components that are in there, so for the first you could use any 22nF/50V capacitor, and for the other you could use any 100nF/25V capacitor. There are a million threads around here about what type (ceramic disc, monolithic ceramic, mylar film, etc) to use where, but I'll let you decide that part ;)

There are plenty of these on eBay, or you can use any of the favorite suppliers here: Smallbear Electronics (http://smallbear-electronics.mybigcommerce.com/) is owned and run by one of our own forum members, great selection, great customer service, high quality components; Tayda Electronics (https://www.taydaelectronics.com/) is probably the cheapest option out there, great selection but some parts can be sketchy quality-wise, and shipping tends to take a while.

Hope this helps :)

Having fixed a few of these, I'll throw out there that I've never seen ceramic/film caps go bad in this pedal - plenty of others things for sure though. If you wanted to describe a little more about what's going on, we might be able to help double check for you before you begin replacing parts. Just a thought!

Thanks for the info!

I am definitely not insistent on using the exact parts. I am happy with just getting it working for myself :).

As for the 22nf/50V, as it is a tripod EMI filter, can I also just use something similar, such as this one?http://canada.newark.com/murata/dss9nc51h223q55b/capacitor-3-terminal-22000pf/dp/96K8849

Going to replace these anyways, I ended up cracking the EMI filter trying to figure out the part name :).

However, thanks for volunteering your expertise.

I have gotten two results with this pedal.

1. With a 9V PSA (tried a boss adapter and a onespot 9v) the pedal will turn on, then quickly turn off (short?), then turn on, then quickly turn off. Repeatedly until I remove remove the cables or unplug the adapter. Oh and with one PSA (I forget which one) there was one time where it did not do the shorting thing, but made a quiet hum that slowly got louder and louder until I unplug.

2. With a 9v battery I do not get anything. The pedal will pass a signal, however it does not turn on when pressing the footswitch.

There is definitely a smell of something burnt inside of it.

I also unscrewed all the 1/4' jacks and isolated them with tape to ensure they were not touching anything and shorting the pedal out (the foil shield guard was ripped a bit near the 'direct out' jack which is why I tried this). This did not solve the problem.

Anyways any information you have would be great. This is my first attempt at repairing a pedal (other than a led replacement) so I am really just shooting in the dark.

Might be worth replacing the adapter jack unless you can verify the switching mechanism (which disconnects the battery when a plug is inserted) is working correctly. Sounds like it may be making intermittent connections, so look there.

Burnt smell makes me think power protection diode - D3 I think? Check it out, it'll probably look smoked if it's bad.

Maybe those 3-inch jacks shorted something?
