Painting Enclosure Problems

I use krylon paint to first paint it the color I want it. I wait a day or two and then put a water slide decal on it. I wait 3 or 4 days and paint a Krylon clear coat to it. The problem is I sometimes get these raised areas. It happens when I put the clear coat on only. I even waited a week before putting on the clear coat and it still did it. Does anybody have any suggestions on how I can prevent this. Thanks

Is the spray paint you're using acrylic or enamel? And the clear coat? Mixing different types can sometimes cause problems. I personally use acrylic paint and I've never had this problem.

You should also make sure the enclosure is well sanded and clean before you start painting. Oils and dirt can make the paint chip off and sanding the enclosure will give the paint something to "grab onto". Make sure you sand it one way to prevent circles in the paint later. Clean the enclosure with isopropanol. (after rinsing it with water and maybe a bit of dish soap.)

You should also try using a primer. Make sure it's the same type as the paint and clear coat you are using and make sure to clean and sand the enclosure before applying it.

I personally like to spray 2 layers of primer, 2-3 layers of paint and 2-3 layers of clear coat.
