Hello, I am building a hand wired Fuzz Face clone and I'm having a bit of trouble with it. Basically, it won't make any noise. When I plug the guitar into the pedal, and the pedal to the amplifier, I get a normal signal with the the unit off. I then push 3pdt and the LED comes on but there is no sound. I came up with the layout myself which is based of off these:

The original layout

The original schematic:

Here is a picture of my layout:

If anyone could offer some assistance it would be greatly appreciated. I have troubleshooted but could not make out what the problem is.

your layout diagram shows nothing is connected to Q2 collector. is this correct? we always like to see pics of the actual thing you have built as well, that way we can compare what you say you've done with what you've actually done.

Your layout have 2 errors:

- like duck said, Q2 collector is connected to nothing in your layout. You have missed one resistor, the R5. It goes between where R4 and C3 meets and Q2 collector.
- take a look at your C2 and compare it to the schematic. You've connected the negative lead to Q1 emissor, actualy it goes to Q2 emissor.

^^ Yes and yes and Q1 emitter goes straight to ground.

Ok, I did what you said regarding R5 and added it to the layout:

Is this now correct?

I'm a little confused as to your second statement. According to the layout for both mine and the original, the negative lead for C2 goes the middle lug of the fuzz potentiometer and the positive lead is connected to the Q1 emitter. You're saying that the negative lead of the C2 capacitor should go to the Q2 emitter? Could you reiterate or represent it in a drawing?

I think you'll find C2 anode (negative side) goes to the fuzz pot wiper in the ggg layout and the schematic in your first post. Just saying.
Double check close up.

That is what I have in my layout and in my build. I'm a bit confused by Marcos - Munky's second comment.

Also, here is a group of pictures that I took of my build. Let me know if this is sufficient or if you would like to see more.

Looks like you built it spaghetti style.
Does it work?
The potential for a short is great.

At this point it does not work aside from the LED. I did not trim the leads because I wanted to see if it worked. If it did, I would've trimmed everything down and cleaned it up.
