where to get this strange pot?

hi guys,

i recently got an old ART FXR.

which is in need of a little TLC...

ive been trying to find one of these pots. (its not a rotary encoder as it behaves as a normal turn pot)





it has 7 prongs on it (pcb mount) as you can see in the pics.
any idea where i can get one, ?

Anyway, more seriously, RS Online have a limited selection of 6 and 7 pin efforts that almost fit the bill?

Check the datasheet for that part from that RS Online link.  It comes in different configurations, and the datasheet tells you how the part number code works so you can change a letter or two to get the part number you need.

The one I linked is the Bourns"PTV Series", I think you're after the Bourns PTT series, or equivalent. It seems to have pub mounts on the rear. Where to get it though I've no idea.

Must be stereo. If you must, you might find a small enough pot to allow for off-board wiring.

blackie, yes theres enough room for a dual 16mm too..

what would the wiring be though?...6 lugs, 7 wires?..

Those should work.  Although these have 7pins, only 6 (possibly 5, depending on model number) are connected to anything inside the pot.  They're essentially dual gang pots with the terminals lined up.  Most common pinout seems to be 1A 1B 2B 2A 3B 3A NC.  I believe that, as oriented in your pictures the leftmost pin would be the dummy pin (NC).  I could be wrong though...

I believe that they will ship to you.  All Electronics is a cool company.  I've purchased stuff from them before.  They buy up surplus parts of all kinds and resell them fairly cheaply.  If you dig through their site, you may find some interesting and unusual items that you can't find elsewhere.

Sounds too expensive for something they were just planning to call Dummy Pin in the specs.

update, in the true spirit of DIY,

i used thermo plastic to remake the shaft, ...works great..

thermo plastic is my new best friend ..ive used it for all sorts of stuff..
