It now has a new feature. Switching modes
Ramp up/Ramp down kinda thing.

Like the modes feature, Rich.   :icon_cool:

Ohm's Law - much like Coles Law, but with less cabbage...

P.S. Will there be a corresponding v7 schematic?  Pretty please?   :)

It will be a bit before I can try this myself, but I'm definitely interested and awaiting audio clips :)

Already on V8 Marc. Later.....

Brilliant.  "V8" - sounds like a perfect name for . . . . an overdrive??   ??? :o ::)                                      ;D

Sounds ruddy marvelous this, Kipper!
Could the ramp up/ramp down switching also be applied to the version that changes the tremolo rate?

Kipper4

Yes I'd imagine so Addy.
Has anybody breadboarded the speed mod?
It may need a different implementation. I know it can be done. I've done it before but with a different envelope detector.

The way I have the mode switch is that the ldr forms part of a voltage divider.
When the led is lit the ldr is not many to only tens of kilohms maybe.
When the led is dark the ldr will be several megaohms.

For the switching I used a dpdt switch to move the node that goes from the fet gate to after the ldr and put a resistance from there to ground. Therefore changing the voltage divider ratio.

ill explain further when I do my write up.

Ah, brilliant. Browsing on the phone at work and must have missed it. Sounds great :) Had a bit of trouble explaining to the wife why it's so cool :P

My wife and I have an understanding about this kind of stuff.  I don't try to explain technical stuff, and that way she doesn't have to pretend to listen.  :icon_wink:

I've outlined my Ghetto lab (White)grey paper on the use of enveloped effects using Vactrols.
I would appreciate someone with EE training to have a look over it before I consider publishing subject to contributors approval also.
Any volunteers please pm me.
Thanks

Untested speed mod Depth Charge. Untested because the Resistor in parallel with the ldr is undetermined.
It wouldnt take long on the breadboard to sort it out. Try 100k as a starting point.

Hi Rich. I'd like to try out your effect on perf board but I'm confused by the pin numbers in the schematic for IC1 and 2. I guess that IC1B, pins 5, 6, and 7 can be 3, 2, and 1 (pin 4 goes to ground, pin 8 connects to Vr). But for IC2, the numbers don't match the pinout of a LM358. Could you let me know where the numbers should go?

Thanks mate.

Kipper4

I'll answer when I'm done working but basically I'm using 2 dual op amps pins 4 to gnd pins8 to +v

Both op amps have their own biasing

Both IC1's are two halves of a TL072   (Envelope detector and led driver)
other op amps should work too.

Both IC2's are two halves of a LM358   (LFO)
Other low current op amps should work for the lfo.

looks like I used an nsl32 vactrol.
500k dark and red diffuse led if your rolling your own.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Rich. Then I think I understand... Just to be sure: the bias for IC2 is the voltage divider created by R25 and 26?

I've got plenty of LDRs so looking forward to this (and whatever else you conjure up!)

Cheers :-)
