Hi there,
Anyone know anywhere that supplies a product similar to the below?

http://shop.pedalparts.co.uk/Direct-Connect_pre-stripped_ribbon_cables,_4,_6,_7_and_9way/p847124_13242332.aspx

If I was to buy some in larger quantities , is there a tool to prepare the ends ?.

Thanks for any info :)

Hi Thanks,
I was thinking more of a tool to strip the ends of the ribbon cable so that they can be soldered to a PCB , like in the image of the product at - http://shop.pedalparts.co.uk/Direct-Connect_pre-stripped_ribbon_cables,_4,_6,_7_and_9way/p847124_13242332.aspx

I think you would be looking for expensive industrial kit to do it in one go.
Ordinary claw strippers can do a few wires at a time. You have to adjust them pretty well though, I find ribbon wire has very brittle strands, easily broken in the stripper.
Most ribbon is intended for push on IDC connection, often neither the wire nor the insulation is really suitable for soldering.

Ok thanks!

Need to find a wholesale supplier then of pre-stripped ribbons.

I'd try some first before bulk buying. As some already said the strands in ribbon cables shear off easily as I found to my detriment recently.
They're ok for header pin type work but I'd not use them as off board wiring.
Just my two pence.
Ma throats as dry as an overcooked kipper.

Smoke me a Kipper. I'll be back for breakfast.
