I've been chasing a JFET design for 5 years now... almost there  ::)... but wait... I could add this component,  and add that functionality....  how did I miss it before?....  it never ends.

I spent a lot of time designing with fets years ago..but now i avoid them like the plague..they were fine for one offs, but now that i build in series, consistency gets in the way..
Mu amps helped a bit by eliminating the need for trimpots, but the lower jfet characteristics varied too much and i couldn't get two pedals to sound exactly the same..and sorting jfets is a pita..
Then i moved to cmos designs. More consistent, but the hiss is an issue..now I'm back on opamps and bjt's ..much more consistent and predictable..

I figure that I'll keep giving jfets another year or ten of attention, before I move on... I arrived here from tubes and digital, and can take a wee bit more abuse yet. ;)
