What's the procedure for applying InkJet Decals? Steve at Small Bear says you spray the sheet with clear lacquer after printing and then cut and apply the decal. I've seen here that the decal was applied and then the whole enclosure was clear coated.

Which method works best? My boxes have already been painted with lacquer.

You clear coat the decals after you print them to seal the ink to the backing. Once you apply them, you overcoat them again to seal them to the pedal finish, and to protect them overall.

So to answer your question, both are part of the process.

by the way, I had mentioned last week about printing out some labelling for those who are interested. I'm moving this week, but will be up and running next week, so I'll print out the labels Monday or Tuesday. Some have already PM'd me about wanting them. If anyone else wants some, PM me as well.

Thanks Roger. I'll give it a try.

Try several different brands.  Results vary tremendously.

Can you make any specific recommendations?

RE: "Spray the dcals with clear before using them"....this explains why I've been so dissapointed with Steve's decals.  They seemed way too thin and flimsy when I used them before, but this will probably solve that problem.  Thanks heaps!!!!  :D  :D  :D

I can't remember specific brand names.  I know I bought some through a model train store that were terrible.  Don't spray the clear coat on too heavy.  Use several light coats.  Keep the decal flexible.
