Build Idea: The ultimate headphone amp!

Hi, it's been a while since I've been around, as I haven't had much time to tinker with the old soldering iron, but that will change very soon!

I've been looking at various options for 'silent' playing but through my pealboard. At the moment I've got an AMT Cab Sim which does have a headphone output, but no volume control, so I sat down and thought about what I actually would want in something that could feasibly sit on my board - so this should ideally fit in an MXR size box:

- Stereo (2x mono = L&R) input (to get the most out of all those stereo mod pedals)
- Output volume control
- line-in (for mp3 backing tracks etc) with volume control
- (switchable?) Cab sim'd stereo (TRS) headphone output
- 9v tip-neg DC - maybe a battery if there's room

So, I figure I can probably string a few existing circuits together in the one box.. Condor etc.

Thoughts?

Sounds interesting....by 'stereo' do you mean TRUE stereo?  Would you use something to provide that sort of split, like a stereo chorus?

Or mono with some 'shaping', independent levels, perhaps different filtering on both sides to give an illusion of stereo?   I've done a few things that way, using the levels to favor L or R.

I guess 'true' stereo - two inputs coming from the L & R outputs on my delay and reverb pedals. I've actually done a stereo booster pedal for a mate a few years back, but that was dual output as well as dual input - two independent channels with a stereo pot controlling the boost level. I guess this would be similar, except it goes to a TRS output.
