and want 399.00$ per year to have the "privelige" of posting stuff.

they can suck my bunghole. 400 bux a year? i think not.

so... sorry... but all my stuff i've posted over the years will likely be unavailable from this point on.

if anyone needs any of it, they can contact me privately.

i will try eventually to update all the stuff and just host it from my website.

Photobucket Ransonware- My notice came this morning. Some stuff is still showing in posts, some is gone, i guess just a matter of time until thousands of pictures are gone.

this would take literally thousands of hours to reup and fix every single post just i personally have made.

i contacted them and told them they are screwing thousands of people over. i also said over 90% of the stuff i have stotred there is given away free, for the good of the internet community. shcematics, layouts, gutshots etc... they really suck. i already knew they sucked, but this is ridiculous. for the last several months the only way to get their buggy ass website's "hosting codes" was to right click the damn page, click view source and then steal the actual URL from that.

they suck. no love at all.

400 bux is not affordable. nor is it returnable if you are unsatisfied with the service.

So far at least you can still right click on the image, grab the image address from the drop down menu and post it between the image tags and the image shows up.

That's one i grabbed with the right click on the photobucket image. I'd been using that method to link the last couple of days as the old copy link method was a fail.

Not all of these are usable for 3rd party hosting but Photobucket certainly does not have a stranglehold on the market.  I will move my more valuable pictures elsewhere but I suspect Photobucket will realize after a short time that NON ONE is going to pay $399.99 (and I assume that is in US dollars) or some enterprising hacker will publish a way to beat the lockdown.  They will either go belly up or sheepishly reopen their site to 3rd party hosting.  Even when they were working, their user interface seemed to change every time I used it and it never worked the same way twice.

My only reason to upload a photo to Photobucket is so i can link the photo to any of the forums i post on. All my pics are stored elsewhere on a number of different devices so not worried about the pictures per se, just pissed with losing the handy linking and the big disappear in hundreds of posts, my legacy is gone!. However like Amptramp eluded to, every visit seemed to required a new set of hoops to jump through in order to do what used to be so easy, not to mention the layers of ads you had to eliminate to get to the button you needed to push next.

Worked so well for me actually for a long time but now has been going downhill fast for too long. The end...

I've deactivated my account. Yes, I know, ton's of my gutshots, and schematics will disappear from here, and other forums as well.

I'm so mad, I could eat a rattle snake. Head first. No... tail first. Whatever. 

I sent them a final "Goodbye, you bunch of @#$%ing @#$% @#$%s!" message as well.

In the meantime, if there's pictures that I've posted in the past that anybody needs, PM me, and I'll repost. I'll have to check the Gallery and upload stuff there too.

Only thing they'll get from me is 399 kicks in the crotch.

My photobucket has become soo disorganized that I am almost glad I don't have to touch it again.

I hope I can at least download my own pictures before I close my account.
