Thanks guys.
I just thought they were a defunkt chip.
Lord knows how my brain works.

I've got some 4046s on order.
Never heard of the 7555 r LM567

Isnt there a way to get a pwm from the 555 chip i read somewhere?

All good stuff.
Of course this is just the start of my journey.
It might take me more than "two weeks" and it will be as annoying as heck.

I have noted that the the 555 chips range of freqauncy changes by very little with a cv
9v~0v swing.

I'm expecting better from the 4046. I saw a you tube video that demoed this.

Thanks for filling me in. I go be annoying.

Rich - you'll larf arf arf arf arf ..... but I bought some "NEC D5556C" ic's as dual cmos 555's some years ago, and have never ever ever ver rrr used them, nor have I ever found a datasheet for same aim aim aim.

also, havva look at those cro shots I posted in that thread of moid's showing the action of the cv input.

Perhaps you were thinking of the 566 - a VCO/function generator.

I think 7555 is a CMOS version.
567 is the "tone decoder" chip. A pll simplified just to find if a particular input frequency is present.
565 is obsolete. A proper pll similar in use to a 4046 with same BJT tech as the 567.

Did I mention adding a microphone? Let it work of its own feedback. Either envelope detected CV or freq modulating the VCO CV.
A mic on the panel is all the rage in modular synth noize modules.

Kipper4

I think not Marc.
No more chip buying.
I'm gonna need a shed load of switches.

Does C mos make sense in this application?

Thanks for the reference Stephen. Nice work.

I have xlr sockets in stock. Jim.

kipper - before you all the mods, maybe ask yourself - what would the Mad Professor have on his dub siren?

cmos is always called for. ICM7555 was the original part number of the original cmos 555 made by Intersil (as far as I know). these days the prefix varies, I have GLC555, S[ignetics?] 7555CN both cmos vershuns.

I have an idea the 567 has also gorn cmos.

I used to really be with it!  That is, until they changed what "it" is.  Now, I can't find it.  And, I'm scared!  --  Homer Simpson's dad

Kipper4

/\ yer.......:)

What would the mad professor have.

Pretty much something like this.

I suspect it's a 4069 lfo and an cd4046 vco.

I don't get how he does the hp lp filtering.
I'm guessing at most of the rest.

I thought you'd called it "Siren Siesta" for a second, that couldn't be right. one thing - that L 470k - is that meant to be across the "3" lug?

I did a Java course in Sirensista years ago.  Nice town.  Love the Cotswolds.

Oops
I left that in from a previous version.
It can be ommitted.

Please could you fill me in on the bjt switching you mentioned earlier Stephen I'm not quite sure what you meant or how its done.
Thanks

Was the mad professor thing a piss take btw?

Currently exploring ways to get a very slow air raid siren sound with an extra lfo.
I think i'm gonna need some help with it.
I did find this geofx article where RG uss a rectifier on the output to do this.

I found this ADSR envelope generator from YuSynth.

http://www.yusynth.net/Modular/Commun/ADSR/ADSR555-sch.gif

While I realise it's intended for use with a synth. I wonder would this work as a ADSR to control my cv in above above posted schematic.

Heres my redraw

thanks for any help in advance
