Hello,

I'm planning to get or build an
equalizer with faders ( like boss GE 7 ) ,and I find a kit using 2 BA3812L , I would like to know in terms of audio quality how these chipsets will compare to a modified Boss Ge-7 ( with BB2134 and film caps)

here is the kit http://www.op-electronics.com/en/equalization/744-10-band-graphic-eq-kit-8000744261257.html

Thanks

I don't know what you mean when you say "band equalizer".  Do you mean something to EQ the sound system of a band, or is there something missing from what you wrote, and you meant to write "7-band equalizer" or something like that?

sorry , I missed some words
In fact I want to build an EQ with at least 7 bands with faders ( not rotary pots) :D

I cannot advise on the sound quality, and I can't see a schematic link for that kit. For that chip, it says "The BA3812L features low distortion, low noise, and wide dynamic range, and is an ideal choice for Hi-Fi stereo applications." so it ought to be capable.

If that design has a proper guitar high impedance input, then I'd guess you just populate components for the 63Hz to 4Khz bands to cover guitar use and be good to go.

I'd suggest to buy a used GE-7 and do the well-known mods to improve the sound quality and reduce the hiss.

Basically the chip's reference implementation.

Input impedance not specified?? I'd investigate. Or run a 12V-15V supply, add a TL07x, and take a gain of 4 in front and 1/4 in back, for significant better S/N.

The thing that bother me with the GE7 is the fact of buying a 50 bucks  pedal (used price in France ) and have to replace most of the components  ;D

If I remember correctly there is 3 Tl022 to swap for Burr Brown 2134 and more thant 10 caps . Also the in line chip but I 'm not sure

50€ is a bit too much. But it's worth it. Have you ever made the slots for 8 faders by hand?
