Hello there. I'm quite new to pedal building, I simple love this forum,  and this is my first post, so please, be gentle :icon_mrgreen:.
I have a Boss SD-2 Dual Overdrive, which I really like. I built a remote pedal, for switching between the channels. It works perfectly with the Boss DS-2 Turbo distortion, but with the overdrive, it behaves like a second on/off switch, responding every two clicks.
Anyone ever had this problem?

The remote switch is supposed to be latching from what I understand.  Are you possibly using a momentary?

And BTW, you've stumbled into the magic kingdom.  Welcome.

Down the rabbit hole...

It would be appreciated if you posted the schems for the SD-2 And the DS-2

.

Kirk Hammet invented the Burst Box.

Here is the SD-2 scheme. Couldn't find the DS-2.
The remote pedal is latching type.

It appears from the schematics that  the DS-2 wants a latching switch and the SD-2 wants a momentary. A momentary (or every second push of a latching) switch should switch between crunch and lead on the SD-2 as long as the Mode knob is in the Crunch (remote) position. If the switch is working as an on/off switch with the SD-2 (instead of switching channels) maybe the Mode knob is in the wrong position.

I don't think the same switch will work with both pedals unless you're willing to hit it twice each time to switch channels.

CricketJoe

Thanks you for the reply, I will try a momentary, and will report.
Of course, the mode is on Crunch Remote. I'm a newbie in making pedals, not using them.  ::)

My reading of the schematic, Rick, is that it uses a latching switch.  And specs I've seen on-line also indicate the use of a latching switch.  I'll agree that it behaves like it uses a different switch than the OP might be using.

(Incidentally, while I have you here, I signed my walking papers and am no longer a "fed" as of Oct. 2.  Well see if they get my pension right.  :o )

You're right Mark, the owner's manual for the SD-2 calls for a Boss FS-5L, which is a latching switch. The described behavior is of a latching switch used where a momentary is wanted. I've got to dig mine out and see if I can replicate it.

Lucky you. I've at least 3 and probably 5 or 6 more years to go. Any chance you'll be in Montreal the first two weeks of November? I'll be there teaching newbies how to test gas pumps. Apologies to the rest of the forum for personal chat  :P.
